大悲咒為九十九億恆河沙數如來所說, 功德威力無與倫比, 在漢地幾乎是所有法會佛事上必備之咒。大悲咒為任何學佛者所必修,猶金錢為世人之所必具,此咒能圓滿眾生一切願望並治八萬四千種病。按儀軌如法念誦,一宿誦滿五遍,除滅身中百千萬億劫生死重罪。觀世音菩薩白佛言:“如眾生誦持大悲咒,不生諸佛國者,不得無量三昧辯才者,於現在生中一切所求若不遂者,我誓不成正覺,惟除不善及不至誠”。
